The "Polychromatic Revolution" against Fascism in Skopje Continues

The United Opposition in FYROM, a wide multi-ethnic, multi-cultural assembly of citizens of various political convictions gathered in Saturday evening (07-V-2016) in front of the building of public television, so-called “MRT” (“Macedonian” Radio Television). This institution which – quite strangely – houses a police station together with the media personnel in the same building (probably a unique situation in any country) – for a decade was apologist for ultra-nationalists and fascist policies of the ruling VMRO-DPMNE party. This media house is prolific in creating content that links FYROM people with Hellenic Makedones of ancient era.
One of its most notorious act was the broadcast “Macedonian (sic) Prayer” in which the racial supremacy of “Macedonian people” (an entity that appeared only in 1943) was proclaimed. Protesters of all creeds gathered in thousands to listen to speeches of civil sector activist, including the president of Journalist Union, Ms. Tamara Čausidis, which delivered a speech of encouragement for the acts of the United Opposition. The monumental building of so-called “MRT” was secured with some 150 police with anti-riot equipment, but given the number of protesters which were in thousands, limited itself to guarding the entrance of the building.
This haven’t stop the participant of the “Polychromatic Revolution” (“Šarena Revolucija”) to attack the building with paint-bombs, as a result of its biased stance and promotion of VMRO-DPMNE as well as its leader Nikola Gruevski. As a kind of symbolic signatures, the opposition limits itself to use of multi-colored capsules (instead of hard objects) to mark institutions and buildings that represent support for Nikola Gruevski’s 10 years of rule. The police officers which were present were also targeted, however, the organizers of the protests which last on a national scale for weeks always emphasized that ordinary police officers are not their target, but the ruling elite of VMRO-DPMNE and its fascist and autocratic rule which for a decade degraded freedom and the rule of law.  Πρωτοσελιδα – Ειδήσεις
