Russian Academic Lecture: Alexander the Great Spread Hellenism

After separation from Yugoslavia in 1991 and especially since the ascent of far-right VMRO-DPMNE led by Nikola Gruevski, FYROM nationalism is based on the delusions which have no basic in archaeological, historical and linguistic evidence about “unbroken continuity from Macedonians of Alexander the Great”. This is a variant of history that is only accepted as state-sanctioned belief system in the borders of FYROM. The international academic community never accepted such ludicrous idea. In the enclosed video, university professor from Russia, Valerij S. Patrušev, an author of more than 400 scientific works published in Russia and other countries promotes the facts about the nature of Hellenistic era. In the setting of Mari State University of Russia, this brief introduction to a broader lecture on art in Hellenistic epoch confirms the general international academic consensus on ancient Macedonia, Alexander the Great and their Hellenic character.
