FYROM’s Large Roma Population Protests Manipulation

Politically organized Roma from PCER (Party for Complete Emancipation of Roma) are joining the rally in front of FYROM government in order to protest manipulation with Roma population (whose estimated number is roughly 120.000 citizens) during elections. The President of the PCER party, Samka Ibraimovski said that, because of Roma being poor, they cannot organize live video streaming from the protest in front of the building of FYROM government, but they can present incriminating phone-calls by government officials representative of their discrimination.

Ibraimovski called all citizens of FYROM, irrespective of their political, ethnic or religious belonging to join PCER in a human right protest. He especially called Roma from two neighborhoods of Skopje where they are in majority – Topaana and Šuto Orizari – to join the ongoing protests in front of FYROM’s government.
It is something of a “political tradition” that Roma, due to their poverty, are the most manipulated type of voters, since their sheer number may provide advantage to both main “Macedonian” political parties – the far right VMRO-DPMNE and the Social-Democratic Party SDSM.
