TURKEY: An ongoing crime against humanity
Published on 20/07/2016 by taneadiaspora
Mrs Fanoula Argyrou, the well known writer-journalist sent last night a letter on the anniversary of the 1974 brutal invasion of Cyprus by Turkey, to three Members of Parliament in North London – Teresa Villiers, David Burrowes and Matthew Offord.
The letter-reminder is as follows:
20 July 1974 – 42 years on – An ongoing crime against humanity for which the Foreign and Commonwealth Office has a lot to answer for
Developments unfolding in Turkey give shivers to the rest of Europe. It is unprecedented in the 21st century for a modern day Hitler to be allowed to act so freely and ruthlessly against humanity and human rights and nobody to raise a voice to stop him. Where is Amnesty International one wonders, where are all those other human rights associations and world leading authorities? What is the so called international community and each country individually including the UK doing to stop this dictator in Turkey? Nobody is reacting, pathetic watchers of a dictator’s antics against humanity. Just like Chamberlain in 1939… Just like Kemal Ataturk in 1914 – 1923 and the defunct League of Nations.
Not a word from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office’s department for Human Rights. On the contrary they are doing their utmost to help Turkey’s accession to the detriment of victim Cyprus, invaded in 1974 in collusion with the then Labour Government and to this day under Turkish occupation… On the contrary since 16 August 1974 the Foreign Office is doing its utmost to impose on Cyprus and the Greek Cypriot victims of a brutal and premeditated Turkish invasion the Turkish racist, segregationist, apartheid bicommunal, bizonal federation! Purporting to be … a just and lasting solution. What an irony, misuse and violation of the word justice…
