Οι Δηλώσεις του Τούρκου: The governor of Turkish Central Bank said that countries, from now on, would be divided into two groups as those with a heavy debt burden and those with a light debt burden, adding, “Turkey will be a country with a light debt burden.”
Speaking at a meeting of the Central & Eastern European Forum held by the Euromoney in Austrian capital city of Vienna, Durmus Yilmaz said, “Turkey does not need the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for crisis management.”
“Financial discipline is the sine qua non of a healthy society. Turkey had suffered from high rates of inflation for 30-35 years. Inflation rate was around 95 percent in 2001. We managed to decrease it to 40 percent in 2008,” he added.
Besides Yilmaz, Governor of Albanian Central Bank Ardian Fullani, Executive Director of Croatian Central Bank Ljubignko Jankov, Governor of Serbian Central Bank Radovan Jelasic and Central Bank Governor Nikola Fabris of Montenegro were in attendance at the forum moderated by Herbert Stepic, executive board president of Raiffeisen International Bank in Austria.
